A chemical bond is a lasting attraction between atoms that enables the formation of chemical compounds. The bond may result from the electrostatic force of attraction between atoms with opposite charges, or through the sharing of electrons as in the covalent bonds.

I think you refer to chemical bonding and not emotional bonds, and here we are:
It is an attraction between atoms that enables the formation of chemical compounds, often due to electrostatic force of attraction between atoms with opposite charges, or through the sharing of electrons as in the covalent bonds.
The two extreme cases of chemical bonds are:
Covalent bond: bond in which one or more pairs of electrons are shared by two atoms.
Ionic bond: bond in which one or more electrons from one atom are removed and attached to another atom, resulting in positive and negative ions which attract each other.
