On clear nights, heat escapes from earth because there are no clouds (blanket) to trap the heat, but on cloudy nights, the clouds trap heat being reflected from the earth, and hence it feels warmer warmer than clear nights
Clouds act like your blanket.. preventing radiant heat from escaping through the atmosphere at night.
But really, starry and cloudless nights in Bermuda island are definitely warmer than cloudy nights in Timboroa or Nyahururu. Why is that so?
a) Altitude.
b) Breeze from the sea that warms the island shores (water keeps heat better than land surfaces)
c) You’re probably sharing the sleeping mat with many other of your travelling pals (because its quite costly to carry your own bed and matress to Bermuda, you know…).
